The magnesium alloy cased laptop/tablet has the thickness of 8.4 mm and weight of 766 g. You can either use it as a tablet or pair with a keyboard (Type Cover) to use as a laptop. The new keyboard now comes with more spaces between the keys for more typing comfort, but you still have to buy separately. The new Type Cover also adds a fingerprint scanner.
Microsoft Surface Pro 4 measures 12.3 inches dispaly with a screen resolution of 2736 x 1824 pixels. The touchscreen is protected by rugged, scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 4 which has a 3:2 aspect ratio. It also boasts a PixelSense technology which enables it optimises response to touch by finger or stylus instantly.
It is configured to deliver desktop-quality performance with latest Intel Core processors codenamed Skylake. The base model comes with an M3 CPU, but you can have a unit with up to Core i7. It also possesses as much as 16 GB of RAM and powerful GPUs supplied.
Microsoft Surface pro 4 runs on the latest Windows 10 (Pro Edition). It features dual cameras; its rear camera is now 8 megapixels while the front-facing camera still uses a 5 megapixel sensor. The 2-in-1 laptop comes with between 128GB and 1TB solid state drive, depending on configuration.
The Surface Pro 4 possesses a USB 3.0 port, a microSD card reader, a Mini DisplayPort, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, amongst others, for physical and wireless connectivity and it is expected to also offer up to nine hours of battery runtime.
It also comes with an upgraded Type Cover and Surface Pen which features key backlight, wider key spacing and a glass trackpad that is 40 percent bigge. The new Surface Pen boasts 1024 pressure sensitivity levels.
Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is not yet available in Nigeria, but will launch on October 26, 2015 in the United States starting at $899. When available in Nigeria, its price is expected to start at around N180,000.
